Wonderful

The hotel is grand and old world charm. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were guevn a free upgrade to a fabulous suite and a bottle of bubbles. Huge comfy bed. Found a fab restaurant for delicious fish up the road. Seafood is very good in the area..oh and breakfast was a fairly decent spread.

The hotel has a few tired looking areas but on the whole not bad for one of these grand old hotels. The area is also a little tired but again some quaint areas too.

This is truly a magical place to stay! Great view, awesome staff, comfortable bed!

This was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at! The room was huge, it felt like an apartment. The restaurant is top notch!

Excellent overall - great restaurant.

Very imposing building with high ceilings and by-gone charm. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast excellent. I had dinner in the Mascagni restaurant on the fifth floor of the hotel which merits special mention. I had a rich Octopus stew followed by a blue sirloin steak cooked perfectly and some cheese to finish off the wine. I chose a Poliziano Vino Nobile de Montepulciano to accompany the food. Waiting staff were very attentive and made the whole experience very enjoyable.

The hotel has parking but it’s not made clear until after booking that there is an 18€ charge per day. Not the end of the world but could be clearer on Booking.com that there is a charge.

Strange experience. 5 start hotel, super high ceilings, building remind palace. Very comfy beds. But no cosiness, nor luxury. Poor breakfast.

Good

Friendly, pleasant, helpful staff. Large, beautiful room with a great view. Lots of nice amenities. Absent the poor conditions caused one night by the hotel's rental of a meeting room for a very load party, the stay was excellent.

Very loud DJ music from a large party in the ballroom below our room until 1:00 a.m. Rooms were uninhabitable that evening because of the music. Astoundingly bad service that a supposedly 5 star hotel would subject their guests to such bad conditions. Hotel needs to decide if it wants to be in the elite hotel business or if it just wants to be a party room rental site.

Wonderful

Great location and the place is stunning, just an amazing palace with wonderful amenities. The service was good, especially at the restaurant and breakfast area. The breakfast was good with lots of options.

There was nothing I didn't like, but the property was under construction and while I knew about the pool upstairs, I didn't see any warning about the pool in the spa. The only way this place could improve is with room service.

Great location, next time I would check alternatives close by

Great place to stay in the area, the building looks stunning from the outside, there is parking and the staff is so amazing they make you feel the most important person in the place. We especially liked the ability to walk around without taking the car that much. If you like history, the hotel will remind you of all the famous people that spent their nights and days in the structure. Amongst other things we liked: - we were offered free drinks on arrival, which we didn't use - the rooftop pool looks fantastic - we were recommended a nearby café (as an alternative to the hotel breakfast) and we do appreciate good suggestions

Perhaps we were unlucky or just allocated to a poor room - but many things didn't work and the situation did improve a little bit thanks to the wonderful staff - my very personal opinion is that parts of the hotel are now crumbling and in desperate need of update. - Air conditioning didn't work at all, so we had to keep the windows open at night - we got woke up in the early morning by cars and vans, plus during the night by the occasional motorbike, this issue wasn't raised with the staff - internet would work intermittently and we had to manually turn it off and on many many times, and hope it would work a bit, there is no/very little mobile signal in the room so this was a real challenge, this was raised with the staff but it would still work intermittently - the room safe storage was clearly not used for a while and needed some maintenance, which was done while we waited when we raised this - we had to decide if we wanted to charge our phones or use the night stand lamp, because only one power socket (out of two, on each side of the bed) worked fine, this was raised but not solved - an emergency light would faintly blink all night long, I'm all up for emergency lights but I bet there are less intrusive ways, this wasn't raised - some drawers (like the one in the room console) won't stay closed for some reasons which I didn't investigate, this wasn't raised On our side of responsibility I have to say that some issues weren't raised to the staff, but then (given our relatively short stay) I don't think it's fair to expect us to dedicate a lot of time to raise basic issues in a "Grand Hotel"

Was OK.

We spend many times in Palazzo as our HQ is in Livorno, the hotel/views/location is excellent, rooms spacious and comfortable.

Hotel becomes quite dated, internet wifi is not sufficent, rooms were quite warm because no AC available yet.

Enjoyed stay at hotel, sightseeing in Santa Margherita Ligure, boat tri to Portofino in delightful Spring weather.

Hotel location on the sea front was lovely, staff were friendly especially the front of house lady at breakfast. Lovely large and spacious room.

Breakfast was limited for the price charged, not enough tourist information for local or distant visits, always needed to ask. Parking on site was very expensive.

Good but not great

The sea view is very pretty and staff are friendly.

It was not up to the standard we expected for the rating. Lots of paint was peeling off, we couldn't close the bathroom floor because of humidity damage. The pool was only open until 7pm, so the image with the pool and lights is not possible to enjoy. The area is very residential, so having more options for food takes a 30 minute walk.
